Rev Jim and Linda Fisk

The Rev Jim and Linda Fisk have answered a call from the Russellville First Cumberland Presbyterian Church to be their pastor. Jim began as an interim there in July 2018 and felt more and more the urge to be full time pastor. He and Linda accepted the call recently and are currently looking for a house in the area where they will move from Bella Vista, AR. Jim has been ordained for 34 years after receiving his higher education from Southern AR University and Memphis Theological Seminary. About half of his ministry has been as a "tent maker", doing ministry but having a secular job. He taught social studies in the Omaha, AR, and Bergman, AR, schools for 12 years. Linda is a retired elementary teacher in the Topeka, KS, area. They enjoy gardening, kayaking and reading.

When asked why move to this church, Jim replied "I've never pastored a church with half the church having a conservative theology and the other half with a liberal theology and both halves enjoying worshipping together! They have a good understanding of acceptance and love and I want to be a part of that. Our denomination prides itself on having a 'moderate' theology and that's been hard to explain. This congregation exemplifies exactly what I see as a moderate theology."

Bro Jim went on to say, "This is an exciting yet challenging time to be a minister in our changing society. The church is not as relevant as it once has been and I would like to help it find its place as our world changes. Love and mercy and grace has not gone out of style and is still needed."
